If you've got chickens, it's impossible to waste food. They just return it as eggs, commensurate with the richness of whatever they were given.

I should also mention they need shell grit, and worming pills, and a "SHUD UP" at 5am in the morning. It's easy to romanticise chicken farming.
I find getting my veg frozen reduces waste massively and normally just as gd.
sure, some vegetables are good even thawed :-)
Stale bread makes for good french toast
