We‘ve been using reusable fabric nets for fruit and veggie shopping for a couple of months now. I was very sceptical at first, but they‘re much better than the plastic bags (not just from an environmental standpoint) - they’re bigger, more durable and the food is not sealed off in plastic.

Why not offer paper bags instead
Probably harder for staff to see the contents of loose veg to put them through the till.
Remember Aldi pride itself on the speed staff can get stuff (and you) through the checkout.
