Yum! Growing up in a conservative Jewish community, NOTHING beat a great “dairy tray”! (Fish is considered parve, or non-meat and non- dairy, so it’s always accompanied by a lot of cheeses). Always included Nova Lox, Sable (a very oily, delicious smoked fish) smoked whitefish, whitefish salad, cream cheese, onions and tomatoes. And of course, an assortment of bagels and sliced cheeses. And for some reason, always a loaf of pumpernickel bread. Which I always used for my second sandwich. Happy birthday to your wife! She’s a lucky gal getting that dinner!

I had bagels and lox on occasion growing up, but didn't learn of the awesomeness of the "Jewish Deli" until meeting my wife. The food is wonderful!
