Where I grew up making noise while eating or drinking is considered to be bad manners. As a result, I can only tolerate noise while eating ramen. Start eating before others is also considered to be rude, which I think is a silly rule because I can't count how many times my plate was cold until everybody got their orders :-(
Really can’t imagine eating Ramen without a slight slurp! We had to wait for everyone served, before we ate. The same thing as not being the first to dig in, I guess.
On eating off a knife: the coolest of people harpoon something in the middle of the table with their knife, then slip it into their mouth, with a flash of the blade.

Does slurping syrup off a loved one (or not) count as bad manners?

😳 Really? Where?
Note to self: Never trust an Aussie with a knife at the dinner table
