I love a good cheddar for the cheese in my cheese sandwich, but I also like yarlsburg and Gruyere.
Very simple. White bread, buttered, American cheese & tomato slice.
Pretty basic. Wonder Bread or Whole Wheat with 2 slices of white American cheese with Mayonnaise spread on both slices. Toasted with butter/margarine on the outside using a griddle or similar.
