Airbnb has launched a global search for 100 of the world’s best home cooks. Their prize? A once-in-a-lifetime trip to Italy.
And not just any trip to Italy. If you’re selected as one of the 100 home cooks, you’ll spend next summer in a UNESCO world heritage site in Pollenzo, learning how to refine your family recipes from the one and only David Chang.
You’ll cook alongside the star chef (host of many-a-Netflix show and founder of the Momofuku empire) and his mom Sherri at the Slow Food’s University of Gastronomic Sciences.
You’ll learn how to develop your own culinary traditions, as well as learn about sustainability and entrepreneurship. You’ll even be featured in Airbnb’s very first cookbook, due to come out later in 2020.
David Chang said: “Home cooking is one of the easiest ways to break down cultural barriers and uncover shared experiences between strangers. I’m honored to join Airbnb in this search for the world’s best home cooks and I’m excited to support each of their culinary endeavors firsthand alongside one of the best home cooks I know – my mom.”
There will be a bunch of other amazing guest chefs teaching courses too.
Home cooks will expand their knowledge with lessons on how to recognize flavors and aromas in products like wine, cheese, and chocolate.
The lucky 100 home cooks will be selected by a panel of judges and will represent a range of different culinary traditions and cuisines from around the world.
Ok, so here’s how to enter. Eligible Airbnb users can enter on their own or nominate their favorite home cooks via airbnb.com/cooking, by submitting a submit a personal essay on why the nominee’s passion for cooking and their family recipe makes them the perfect fit. Applications close on 23 December 2019.
The contest was launched to celebrate Airbnb’s new Cooking Experiences.
