Aldi is winning Easter with this rocky road hot cross bun
A welcome twist on a time served tradition
Nothing says Easter like the hot cross bun. No really...as a cake it was actually made to commemorate the end of Lent, so there really is no other treat to be eating at this time of year!
Traditionally, you can expect to find raisins, sultanas, currants, citrus zest and mixed spices in there, the perfect remedy for six weeks of abstaining from something sweet and yummy. If you're not so big on the religious and traditional side of things, then the good news is, you can have these any time, but there really is no time like the present.
If you're really not big on tradition, you'll be delighted to hear that Aldi have shunned it too and have decided to stuff them with another firm favourite - rocky road! All the goodness of a hot cross bun with chocolatey, biscuity, mallow deliciousness!
When you've tried that and convinced yourself you need nothing more than another one, consider their alternative version, with bread and butter pudding. Layers of spiced bun with Madagascan vanilla custard between a fruity hot cross bun!
Thank you Aldi!
