All the Ciders: Somersby vs Rekorderlig
Comparing two different - but iconic - ciders
A while ago, when I first discovered Somersby cider, I had already known Rekorderlig for a while.
The thing is: Somersby is much easier to get here in Germany, while Rekorderlig is pretty much non existent on store shelves.
Since I currently have some of both at home though, I thought a short comparison might be in order.
Strawberry-Lime vs. Blackberry
Truth be told: These ciders are pretty much as different as they could be. And I am not talking about flavours here.
While Somersby is based on apples, Rekorderlig is actually made from pears. It is also Swedish while Somersby comes from Denmark. (My can was brewed in Croatia by the way.)
They do have the same ABV of just about 4.5% though. Which is pretty much standard for Scandinavian ciders.
Some Rekorderlig.
Rekorderlig
For me, Rekorderlig Strawberry-Lime will always have a special place in my heart. It is not my favourite flavour of the brand - that would be Krusbär, but I still enjoy it a lot.
The cider is also kinda sweet though. It is definitely very refreshing, but it is definitely not for everyone.
And like I said, it is hard to get here in Germany. My latest case came from a ferry all the way up north in Kiel. You can actually take that boat all the way to Gothenburg in Sweden.
But it is also far away and pricey. And I only have three or four cans left over.
A Can of Somersby.
Somersby
Somersby Blackberry on the other hand is, at least in my opinion, a bit less sweet. It has a bit more of a tart flavour to it.
I very much do love it though. Blackberry currently shares my favourite spot with red rhubarb.
What brings me to the one and only clear advantage of Somersby cider; it is easy to come by. Pretty much every supermarket here in Germany carries it. And that is awesome.
It is also kinda pricey though, at around 1.3€ a can. I paid 139 Swedish crowns for a 24 pack of Rekorderlig.
Neither Cider clearly wins.
My Verdict
The thing is: none of the ciders clearly win for me. Both the Rekorderlig and the Somersby have their pros and cons.
Flavour-wise, I really like both. But since Somersby is much easier to come by, I very much prefer Rekorderlig when I can get it.
It is just that little bit more special to me.

I would probably have to go blackberry because that sounds so nice. Sometimes hard to get items are more of a treat and therefore hold a special spot.
So true.
I'd choose Somersby simply because their low-carb cider is ideal. Not overly sweet.
Never had that Version.
Both sound pretty delicious but I know I'd land on the Somersby Cider, not so much on its accessibility (though that would be a factor for sure) but more for the facts that Apple cider sounds crispier (though I realize that's just a matter of personal taste) and I love anything blackberry, or any kind of berries for that matter. 🍻 Bottoms up!! 😁👍
It is definitely very close for me. I very much like both Ciders. Rekorderlig just ‘won’ because it is more of a rare Treat for me than Somersby ever could be. Piggar up!
Very nice.
Thanks!
