America’s oldest brewery is launching a light beer
It’s being called the next generation of light beer
The company that calls itself America’s oldest brewery is entering the low-cal beer market with a super light beer.
Appealing to the healthy lifestyle crew, Yuengling is launching a new beer called Flight. The brewery has been around for more than 190 years.
The new beer has just 96 calories and 2.6 grams of carbs, and so it’s perfect for an easygoing drink if you’re watching your calorie intake. Flight sits at 4.2% ABV.
Yuengling describes the beer as upscale, calling it the “next generation of light beer”.
The company told Brewbound that the beer will be "competitively priced to other premium upscale light brands."
Jennifer Yuengling, Vice President of Operations and 6th generation family member of D.G. Yuengling & Son, Inc said in a statement: “Recognizing an opportunity in the light beer category, we have been working to deliver an upscale refreshment brand that fits within the active lifestyles of today’s consumers.”
“Our family brewing business was built on providing consumers with a high-quality, great tasting drinking experience for social occasions. We have spent more than a year perfecting FLIGHT by Yuengling, taking the taste of this light beer to new heights, and can’t wait for our fans and light beer drinkers to try it.”
Flight will be available from March in the 22 states that Yuengling beer is distributed.
Yuengling says this new beer was influenced by customer feedback. Indeed, breweries increasingly have their sights set on drinkers interested in healthier lifestyles, so we can expect to see many more breweries expanding into low calorie and low alcohol beers this year.
