An all-new FoodTribe Studio is here: Cooking up content just got easier!
You can now create and post Articles, Recipes, Quizzes, Polls + more on FoodTribe from your mobile device.
FoodTribe Studio is FoodTribe's content creator kitchen, and since the start of FoodTribe, it's essentially been the same product, with minor improvements, new features, and bug fixes tacked on along the way. However, it was far from perfect - with a somewhat clunky design and incompatibility with mobile devices. There's nothing quite so terrifying as discovering your recipe on the Homepage has a massive typo and you've only got your iPhone.
Hence, the team at DriveTribe/FoodTribe have been building an all-new Studio, and now, after months of work and beta-testing, it's ready to hit the platform!
So, what's new and great about Studio V2?
YOU CAN NOW USE FOODTRIBE STUDIO ON MOBILE
Finally! Don't worry, we're just as excited. You can now create, edit, and publish longer-form content on FoodTribe with just your mobile device. While we plan to introduce the ability to open Studio from the FoodTribe app in the near future- for now, you can access the new Studio on your mobile device by logging into FoodTribe on your device's web browser and clicking Create in Studio on your profile.
STUDIO NOW HAS A DARK MODE
We know how much of an alien encounter-rivalling experience it was to be using the FoodTribe website in Dark Mode, only to open Studio and be blinded. Hence, Studio V2 has Dark Mode. Currently, you have to switch Studio Dark Mode on independently - however, it will soon follow your setting for the rest of the website.
YOU CAN NOW SEE LIVE POST STATS FOR ALL YOUR POSTS
Previously, Studio would only load live stats for 10 posts at a time. Studio V2 now shows your complete, all-time stats at the top of Studio - total Impressions, Awards, Coin Gifts, Bumps, and Comments for all of your FoodTribe history.
STUDIO NOW HAS MORE INTUITIVE POST EDITORS
We've introduced 'content blocks', making it easier to navigate a draft and ideally resulting in a cleaner piece of content. The Content Editor tool menu is also clearer and more intuitive.
STUDIO NOW HAS SEARCH AND POST FILTERS
Finding previous content you'd published in Studio used to be like finding Flake in a week-open box of chocolates - either requiring you to scroll through tens of posts, or search the post on FoodTribe and edit. We've fixed this by introducing a search function and post type filter in Studio, meaning you can find and polish that old gold post by keyword or by filter.
YOU CAN INSTANTLY ADD UNIQUE, REQUIRED IMAGES FROM UNSPLASH.COM WITH A BUILT-IN FUNCTIONALITY
Studio V2 doesn't use placeholders for quiz images or hero images; instead, we've added an Unsplash button which allows you to click to instantly add a unique, generic, free-for-use image from Unsplash.com relevant to food. If you don't like the image it adds, you can click again and another will be automatically added.
Essentially, it's the same thing as publishing your content with placeholder images, if you didn't want to find a specific image for your work - but it's generated from a larger pool than our previous placeholders, and thus is a more unique image.
STUDIO HAS BOLD AND ITALICS TEXT IN ARTICLES (COMING SOON)
At popular request, we'll soon be adding the option to Embolden or Italicise text in articles; highlight the text you wish to change, and then select the relevant change.
To prevent it ruining the pretty, uniform look of the platform, the feature will only work in Article text - you won't be able to have an Italicised headline or quiz answer, for instance.
STUDIO NOW HAS BETTER SAVING, INCLUDING OFFLINE BACKUP
The previous version of Studio gained a bit of a reputation for its saving glitches - and apart from fixing those issues in the new version, we've also added offline back-up. This means if you lose internet connection and are unable to save your draft, when you regain connection and refresh, you will be asked if you want to restore the version you attempted to save.
STUDIO HAS ALL-NEW POST TYPES (COMING SOON)
We're currently building three completely new content formats to bring to new Studio - Mega Poll, Pop Trivia, and Reveal Quiz.
A Mega Poll will allow you to ask a series of polls in succession. Pop Trivia means you can ask a trivia question and see how ignorant the food community is, and a Reveal Quiz means you can ask a single question with a blurred image that will then reveal after people have voted.
TELL US WHAT YOU THINK OF THE NEW CONTENT KITCHEN IN THE COMMENTS BELOW
Internally, we're calling it Studio Rolls-Royce and toasting each other, but we'd be very eager to hear your experience with the new tool - and of course, other functionalities you'd like to see come to Studio!
Please note that while we have extensively beta-tested, this is a first release - so if you do experience any issues with Studio, please report with the dedicated Report Bug link in Studio. Our team will be in touch promptly to help identify and solve the issue.
