Anticipating a Cooking Masterclass!
This weekend, I will be attending a cookery course at Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage and I am so excited!
Me and my dad are going, and we will be staying in a B&B nearby. I have already made one of his recipes (merguez meatballs) successfully! Here are the ingredients, to give you an idea of what it may have been like: 750g–1kg young broad beans in the pod, 1 tablespoon rapeseed, olive or sunflower oil, a couple of squeezes of lemon juice, sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.
For the actual meatballs: 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1 teaspoon fennel seeds, 1 teaspoon coriander seeds, 1 teaspoon caraway seeds, 10 black peppercorns, 1 teaspoon sweet paprika, a pinch of cayenne pepper, ½ teaspoon salt, 500g lamb mince (not too lean), 2 garlic cloves, very finely chopped. To serve we used 2 flatbreads.
Me and my dad think the course will be amazing, and it consists of a River Cottage Farmhouse Loaf, a seasonal veg recipe, a 'sensational' sustainable fish recipe, a meat dish using a lesser-known cut and, rather excitingly, a tasty pudding - yum!
I am excited to do the bread making and the meat dish as they will be new experiences for me. There are still some questions, like will it be just adults (probably yes), and will the great man be there himself? (probably not, but worth an ask!)
Next weekend I shall be doing a blog on the course, and home cooking. But, for now, its goodbye from me! See you later!
