Beckhams get permission to build giant wine cellar which will hold 7,000 bottles
A wine cellar bigger than most homes
Not too long ago, David and Victoria Beckham filed a request to extend their current plans to build a 117 sq wine cellar, big enough to store over 7,000 bottles of wine, within their Grade II-listed home in Oxfordshire. The request was granted by the council and they've now been given the green light.
The Beckhams are famously partial to wine and they own a considerable selection of precious bottles, including a Château Lafite Rothschild 1990, a Château Margaux 1995 and a DRC Grands Echézeaux 2014. They're also known for their appreciation of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons and in fact, David even bought Victoria a vineyard (pictured) in Napa Valley, California, even though the wine they make in the vineyard is not available commercially. Victoria was even quoted saying (on ITV's 'This Morning') that drinking red wine helped "keep my dancer body".
The Beckhams join the long list of celebrities who own a sizeable wine cellar in their private residences. Canadian rapper Drake, for example, has a somewhatbaroque-looking wine cellar in his home in Hidden Hills, a gated community in California. Meanwhile, Jennifer Aniston built an even bigger one (around 150 sq mt) in her LA home.
