Budapest Street Food

Traditional Hungarian cuisine is generally not very well suited for a plant-based diet. But the beautiful capital is evolving.

Budapest is one of my all-time favorite places to be. Today's little excursion was all about street food.

Turning a scrappy backyard in the city center into a street food market is upcycling at its finest.

"Las Vegan's" have several food trucks around the city. The berry smoothie was phenomenal.

What looks like an old warehouse has been turned into another street food venue. This one is all plant-based. And it features one of my greatest weaknesses...

Not eating "kürtöskalács" or chimney cake was the only thing I missed when going vegan. Now, though, more and more bakeries turn their recipes into all plant-based ones, like this one at "Kürtós Legenda". You really can't taste the difference. Trust me, I consider myself a kürtöskalács-connaisseur! ;)

My best friend gave me a chimney-cake rack for my birthday. I should show you guys how you can easily make them at home (even without a rack). The only problem is, they're highly addictive. You're all going to gain 20 pounds and it's going to be my fault.

I killed this one within five minutes today. And I don't regret a single bite!

Have you ever been to Budapest? If not, come and enjoy the feast! If you have, come again! It's always worth a visit!
