Burger wars: Where does 5 Guys rank?

I asked you all to chose a burger from 5 Guys for review and overwhelmingly you chose the bacon cheeseburger. I know it's not like there was a lot of choice.

Does it taste as good as it looks? The short answer is... way better.

As I always do I tried a bite of the meat on it's own. The beef was good it did not taste like it was frozen and that's a good thing. I do think that 5 Guys has some great buns, they are so soft but they don't disintegrate as you eat. In fact they are so good that my wife had some leftover top and bottom bun after she was done eating and I ate that as well. The cheese is your standard American cheese slices and there was two of them. The lettuce was trying to hold up but was losing its crispness. The diced onions were nice and still had some crispness with a nice onion flavor. As for the pickles they were very middle of the road and that's the best I can say about those. The jalapenos were very nice, they are fresh and not the pickled type other places use, these tasted fresh and had a nice crispness to them and they actually had a little heat to them as well. Now lets talk bacon, this bacon was done right. It had crunch to it as well as a little chewiness and there was enough of it to taste it, plus it actually tasted like bacon.

I do admit that when you unwrap it from the foil it does look like a bit of a mess honestly but once you start eating it you will forget all about how it looked. These are hefty burgers that have some size to them and that is why they cost more. I guess you get what you pay for and I would gladly pay for another one right now. So with that being said I have to rank 5 Guys in second place right below my hometown Carl's townhouse.
