Burger Wars: Where does White Castle rank?
Let's see what you all chose for me
I asked you all to choose me a burger from White Castle and you all chose the bacon and cheese slider. Since this is White Castle I also ordered the second most commented: the double, and I also got a single with cheese.
Does it taste as good as it looks? The short answer is... kind of... not really!
Standard slider with cheese.
As always I start with a taste of the beef on its own. The best thing I can say about the beef is that it's texture, absolutely flavorless, not even frozen patty flavor. These sliders are steamed so the buns are soft and sometimes even wet and that's disturbing at times. The cheese is so fake I am not sure how to describe it.
Bacon jalapeno and cheese slider.
Now the bacon jalapeno cheese slider is basically a normal cheese slider with a piece of chewy bacon that really did not change the flavor of the slider much. The jalapenos are the jarred pickled variety that gave up any crispness a long time ago. Just look at the picture there is not much happening there.
Now for the double with smoked cheddar cheese. Honestly this is the one I preferred out of the three. The smoked cheddar really helped add some flavor. Now do not miss understand this is not high quality smoked cheddar, it's very low quality, but it does help the taste of this slider.
Now I have a confession you all. These sliders are absolutely nasty. But... and it's a big round voluptuous but, I slightly enjoyed them. John Battersby you were 100% correct when you said "They are a s*^t burger, but I love them nonetheless!" They are so terrible they are good'ish. It hurts me to admit it Foodtribe. Please forgive me.
I am going to slide White Castle in under Wendy's and above BK. Thanks John Battersby for the awesome leader board.
So what do you all think of White Castle sliders? Let me know in the comments. I hope you all are enjoying your weekend. I love you Foodtribe!
Let's remember what a good slider looks like you all.
