Review: Takis – Can you handle the Fuego?
Can Takis bring the heat?
As you all know, I am always saying how store bought chips that make big claims of heat are just clickbait let downs. Well, let's see if Takis are any different. These are the Fuego variety which are supposed to be the hottest offering; the flavor is hot chili and lime. Let's give them a day in court, FoodTribe!
The first thing you notice is that deep red color. Then the smell of artificial lime hits you – it's not bad but it is strong. You immediately notice they have a very hard crunch to them. Don't eat these if you have weak teeth. The first taste you notice is that of a salted lime, it will make you pucker a bit. After eating a few I got a little something but nothing I would call heat... much less Fuego. Maybe if you ate the whole bag with nothing to drink you might notice a little warmth but you will definitely need a drink to rinse out the amount of salted lime flavor. Honestly, there is no need for this much salt on these.
In conclusion, they are not hot but yet more clickbait; if you want a snack that will give you congestive heart failure midway through the bag, these are for you. I stand by my statement that all these claims are clickbait and no real heat.
Have any of you all tried these and what did you think of them? Tell me in the comments below. Stay wonderful, Foodtribe! I love you all!
