Carlsberg celebrates Liverpool EPL win with a special red can
A great idea to mark the occasion and celebrate the longest-standing partnership in English football
Earlier this week, Chelsea beat Manchester City thus allowing Liverpool the celebrate their first English Premier League title and to mark the occasion, Danish brewer Carlsberg decided to release a special edition red beer can which features the players' signatures.
Carlsberg and Liverpool FC began their successful collaboration a very long time ago. In fact, in 2019, the English club and the Danish brewer agreed on a five-year extension, until the end of the 2023-24, for their record-breaking partnership which began in 1992. For 19 seasons, from 1992-93 and until 2010-11, the Carlsberg logo was proudly used as a main sponsor on Liverpool's home jersey and then, when the club signed a new deal with Standard Chartered, Carslberg and Liverpool kept on working together. Last year, for example, Carlsberg released the ‘Red Barley’, a red beer dedicated to late Scottish player and manager Bill Shankly.
The 'Champions Can' was released on June 25, the day that Liverpool won the league, and it features the club's crest and players' signatures, along with the words 'Champions, 2020 onwards'. The beer can is going to be available in 23 countries across the globe, including the UK of course, and Carlsberg is also hosting an online giveaway in the coming weeks.
Liverpool have only lost two league games between this and last season and were crowned EPL champions as Man City dropped points at Chelsea. Liverpool are now 23 points clear of Man City with 7 games to go, and are still in with the chance to break Man City's record for the largest margin of victory in the Premier League as well as the most points in the league.
This is Liverpool's first EPL win, their 19th top-flight title overall and their first league win since 1989-90.
