Celebrating National Fish & Chips day at The Grand Tour Pub
I swear I only wanted to share one photograph but then I started writing...
I'm writing this when the watch on my right wrist says it's 7.17 PM in the UK which means that I'm a bit late to the party because by the time you read this, National Fish & Chips, which technically occurs on September 4, will officially be over. But they say you should "do it once and do it right" and so here I am.
I'm writing this from my home and Los Angeles, where the Grand Tour Mayhem Hall Pub was located, is far away, both in terms of time and space, but I thought I'd share this now because it fits the occasion and also because I never have before.
Her name is Denise and we're still friends
The Grand Tour Mayhem Hall Pub was a 'pop-up' pub set up by Amazon in the West Hall at the LA Convention Center during the media days at the 2017 LA Auto Show to promote season 2 of The Grand Tour and it was an absolute blast. The food was great (and free), the beer was excellent (and free) and the vibe, more to the point, was amazing.
This year's edition of the LA Auto Show is postponed to May 2021 and that made me a bit sad but I can at least take some comfort in the pictures I've taken and I can at least look forward to the second episode of Season 4 of The Grand Tour. It's not gonna be the same without the pub. But this is 2020 and, as the old adage goes, we get what we get and we don't get upset.
