Challenge: Make a dish and name it after a FoodTriber
1K Tribecoins await the very best - or worst - entry to this dangerous cook-off
In the 1920s, a great legend of ballet, Anna Pavlova, decided she’d visit Australia and New Zealand on tour – a patronage so chuffing, surprising and gratifying to the usually neglected colonies Down Under that we created a dessert in her honour.

Light, sweet, and fruity – essentially a meringue cake topped with fruit and whipped cream – the Pavlova is also the traditional Christmas dessert Down Under, since Christmas falls in summer and no one feels like a pudding on fire. In fact, it’s a bushfire hazard.
Much has been made of which country - Australia or New Zealand, first came up with the dessert, and if there’s one thing more tiresome, it’s a controversial origin story. Point is, it happened and it’s how we continue to celebrate Anna Pavlova today.
It’s this kind of beautiful immortalisation that is the idea behind this week’s FoodTribe challenge – after all, we are going to need something iconic and needlessly spicy to remember Doug F long after I’ve deleted his account accidentally.
Here’s the rules for the challenge
1) MAKE A DISH IN HONOUR OF A FOODTRIBER
It could be all-new dish (genius), an appropriated dish with a twist, an appropriated dish which you hope no one notices that you’ve just renamed. You could even chop up some Broccolini in a creative way and call it Vencolini.
2) NAME IT AFTER THEM AND POST TO FOODTRIBE
Hashtag it with #nameadishchallenge
The entries will be collected in one great round-up post, and the winner voted on, in 2 weeks’ time, or whenever I get reminded I kickstarted this genius challenge.
I'll be posting my entry this weekend, all going well.

It’s called the John ‘that’s pants’ Coleman.
Nope, you need to make it
I’m not wasting a perfectly good can of baked beans on you, sorry.
