Check out my new BBQ area & covered outdoor lounge
How many grills can a guy cook on?! HA!
Recently my wife and I noticed the back deck on our house had started to fall into a state of disrepair. It was built with the house, and we had taken steps to maintain it, but time and the elements won over us in the battle to keep it in good shape, and the old deck had to go!
Old and falling apart, it was time to go!
Great quality right here!
With a new deck came the opportunity to improve on what we had in place before it. We decided to almost double the size of our deck, and enclose a portion of it to provide a comfortable, shaded area for hanging out and entertaining friends. During the design phase of the rebuild, I got excited and realized I'd have room to move my top three outdoor cooking implements outside; my trusty Weber gas grill, my Blackstone 36" griddle, and my Vision kamado. I also added a rolling kitchen island to store grill accessories and provide a little work space. And all of these grills would manage to fit while still leaving room for my beautiful wife's herbs and sun lounger!
My wife's herbs!
My grill area is all set up!
My sous-chef LOVES the sun!
Old Reliable! This gas grill is great for its ease of use!
My Blackstone! This is where the cheesesteak magic happens!
My Kamado, gettin' it done!
It's nice having a little workspace!
I can't decide what area I like more though; the grilling area or the lounge area! Because as much as I love grilling up some meat, watching TV and screaming at my college football team is one of my most favorite things to do. And now I have the perfect space to do that with our new lounge area! We have a comfortable sectional couch and a dining area that can serve double duty as an area to set up snack foods buffet style. There is a ceiling fan to help keep the area cool and plenty of lighting for get-togethers after the sun goes down. I think I'm going to LOVE this area!
This area is COMFORTABLE!
I've got some Australian Supercar Racing on the screen now, but I can't wait for college football season!
We've even got a good place for sit-down dinners outside, or to use as a gameday buffet area.
We've already had a couple of really good meals out here!
Stayed tuned as college football season approaches because we'll start having snack food spreads and a lot of alcoholic beverages out on the deck. I'll share with you what unhealthy (and maybe sometimes a little healthy) foods we end up chowing down on as we scream at the TV and our favorite teams!
