We all love cheese. Some people want it so much, they steal it. Apparently, 4% of cheese is stolen globally.
The Agricultural Marketing Resource Center reports that 508 million pounds of cheese is stolen every year. In 2017, things in Italy were so out of hand that the Italian rozzers conducted "Operation Wine and Cheese".

Why is cheese stolen so much? Most cheese heists take the stolen cheese and sell it in the smaller markets.
Criminologist Ron Clarke believes that cheese is loved by many, and because cheese can be found in fridges rather than shelves, it is easier for people to steal it.

This is crazy! Was chatting with the supermarket manager because my favourite brand of cheese was not on the shelves, only to discover that the brand was taken off because too many people were stealing it! So now, if you want that brand of cheese, you have to ask a shop assistant and they bring it out for you from there stores. Go figure.
