Christmas Comes Early to Costa

The popular coffee shop will launch its festive range on 1 November.

Costa has revealed their much-loved Christmas range will be in stores nationwide on 1 November, well ahead of the Christmas rush.

Along with the appearance of Quality Street tins in the supermarket or showings of Home Alone on TV, for many, the arrival of the distinctive Christmas cups and festive flavours mark the start of the holiday season.

So which new items will be joining the range this year and which of your favourites will be returning to the Christmas menu?

Drinks: New additions

Irish Velvet range: The centrepiece of Costa’s Christmas push this year is the new Irish Velvet range (named ‘Irish Coffee’ in ROI and NI). This creamy blend with notes of caramel and vanilla will feature in a luxurious Irish Velvet Latte and rich Irish Velvet Cappuccino, as well as in the new Irish Velvet Frostino and Irish Velvet Hot Chocolate. Described as ‘Christmas in a mug’, this year's flagship festive flavour will also be available in Costa Express Machines across the country.

If you favour spiced over sweet, also joining the lineup is the new Festive Spiced Cappuccino, seasoned with cinnamon, nutmeg and star anise, and a limited-edition Sri Lankan Christmas Tea, which also features winter spices.

Drinks: Returning favourites

The great news is most of your festive favourites will be making an appearance this year. Winter Character Roast is back on the menu, as is the much-loved Black Forest & Cream Hot Chocolate.

Hot Spiced Apple Tea is also returning (and will now be served with a zesty slice of lemon) and fans of the chain will be happy to see the full Hazelnut Praline and Gingerbread ranges back in stock.

Food: Sweet treats

Undoubtedly, the most anticipated item on the menu this year is the new Terry’s Chocolate Orange Muffin. Available exclusively at Costa, this decadent treat takes inspiration from the popular stocking-stuffer, with a rich chocolate orange sauce centre and a slice of chocolate orange on top.

For lovers of traditional bakes, the Mince Pie, Salted Caramel Yule Log and new Clementine & Mascarpone Loaf Cake will be a go-to order, while Costa’s twist on the classic Black Forest dessert is the perfect accompaniment to their famous hot chocolate

The new showstopper Black & White Forest Wreath Cake features a chocolate sponge, buttercream and dark chocolate, with sweet and sour cherries.

This year Costa is catering to the whole family, and even kids can get into the holiday spirit with a new range of cake and biscuit characters straight from Santa’s workshop. Choose from Penelope Polar Bear Cake, Peter Penguin Shortcake and Father Christmas Mallow Gingerbread for a cute, Christmassy snack.

Food: Christmas lunch

It’s not Christmas without a Christmas dinner. Luckily, the new British Turkey Feast Baguette and British Turkey & Trimmings Toastie are stuffed with all of your favourites, including smoked bacon, turkey breast, cranberry sauce and sage and onion stuffing. Last year’s Pigs & Blankets Mac & Cheese is back in store too, joined by the British Beef & Caramelised Onion Baguette and Brie, Bacon & Cranberry Panini.

Food: Gluten-free and vegan options

You’ll be pleased to hear that this Christmas, there’s more to choose from than ever before. The new sandwich on the lunch menu, Veggies Under Vest, includes falafel, parsnip stuffing, carrot, cranberry sauce, spinach and vegan mayonnaise. There are also plenty of sweet treats to enjoy with your coffee, including a Vegan and Gluten Free Mince Tart, Vegan Rocky Road, and a new Vegan and Gluten Free Rich Fruit Christmas Cake Slice.

Costa Christmas cups

This year, Costa’s Christmas takeaway cups feature cute Christmas character designs with Santa, penguins, reindeer and Christmas jumper-wearing bears. It's also released a new line of reusable drinks containers with gorgeous rose gold embellishment, so you can be both stylish and environmentally-friendly this winter.

What do you think about Christmas starting on 1 November?
