Cocktails in the City is back for 2020
The two day cocktail festival returns to London this April
Cocktails in the City. There'll be cocktails, and oh yes, you guessed it, they're going to be in the city. But don't worry; this isn't a post about sipping espresso martinis in an All Bar One near Bank or Monument.
No, this is about Cocktails in the City, a two day cocktail festival that is in the city from the 2nd to the 4th of April, and the city... is London. This really is a festival for everyone. For everyone who likes cocktails or cities, that is, and that's quite a lot of people.
So what actually is it?
Cocktails in the City is a weekend festival in which all the best bars from the city come together under the same roof to celebrate all things cocktail. It's located in The Vaults, an atmospheric warren of tunnels and railway arches that is currently hosting The Vaults theatre festival. And for one weekend, visitors will be able to explore this remarkable setting with a delicious cocktail in hand.
Guests will have access to countless show-stopping drinks, made by the finest mixologists in the city, while exploring hidden rooms, masterclasses and immersive experiences.
This year’s line-up of bars includes 68 & Boston, Bloomsbury Club Bar, Bourne & Hollingsworth, Burlock, Ella Canta, Harvey Nichols Fifth Floor Knightsbridge, Heads + Tails, Homeboy, Laki Kane, Merchant House, Nightjar, Opium Bar and Trader Vic's, who are set to showcase their skills to thousands of Londoners. But this list is getting stronger by the day.
The event organisers have promised new, interactive and innovative experiences created especially for 2020. With many aspects incorporated from different bars, guests can take part in sensory cocktail journeys, garnishing workshops, masterclasses and state-of-the-art cocktail theatre.
They've sectioned off the arches of The Vaults into interactive themes, which will include a 'sustainability arch', an 'around the world arch', a 'whisky & live music lounge', a 'golden age of cocktails arch' and a provocatively named 'good times arch', among others.
In addition, there'll be tasting rooms, interactive flavour discovery rooms and live music aplenty.
To add to the fun, each bar will be competing throughout the weekend to be named “Best Bar” – meaning every mixologist will be showing off their skills at every opportune moment. Those attending will have the opportunity to vote once for their favourite bar.
Some of the city’s best-loved food vendors will serving everything from nibbles through to street food classics. The perfect pairing for cocktails, and perfect for sobering up if you get carried away in the tasting rooms.
