Most of us eat chocolate. We've spent hours in our school playgrounds flaunting which chocolate we got from our parents, eaten chocolate as treats, had chocolate at movie nights, eaten chocolate when we're sad or when we're happy, cooked with chocolate. We're a world of cocoa fanatics. However, a new debate has risen regarding chocolate.
Technically, white chocolate isn't chocolate. It's made with a blend of sugar, cocoa butter, milk products, vanilla, and lecithin. It doesn't contain chocolate solids – which would make it 'officially' a chocolate. When cocoa beans are processed (removed from pods, fermented, dried, roasted, cracked open etc.), you end up with a 'nib'. The nibs are ground into paste called chocolate liquor. That is then separated into cocoa solids, and cocoa butter. So you see, white chocolate is missing the all important cocoa solids.
But you may want to ignore the science... let's settle this once and for all. Should white chocolate be considered as chocolate?
Tejas Kokcha
"No matter what people say, I love white chocolate and it should be considered as a chocolate. That's it. End of."
Jesse Billington
"No. It needs cocoa in it to count as chocolate for me."
Raunuq Benjamin
"Yes, white chocolate should be considered as chocolate because it is made using Cocoa butter. Cocoa butter comes from the fat of cocoa bean. Cocoa bean is used to make chocolate, hence it is chocolate."
John Coleman (Drivetribe/Foodtribe Community Manager)
"It's in the name. Also it's better than the other types of chocolate."

I mean white chocolate does come from the cocoa pod, plus it’s made from the natural fat of the cocoa pod, so yeah it is chocolate, because it comes from the cocoa pod
Why not if it makes people happy who cares. I'm out of the race for it anyway but my sister (who can and does eat everything) says she thinks it's chocolate.
No!
This argument was started by the Swiss about 30 years ago when they wanted to regulate chocolate companies outside Switzerland in order to control naming and definition like the French do with Champagne. I'm pretty sure the lost and products made with any part of the cocoa bean is chocolate as it should be. Chocolate Nerds unite
People are starving in the world, but we don’t care we need too decide if white chocolate is actually chocolate 😅😂 (don’t feel offended, I’m just being like WTF, who cares)
