Easter Traditions : Italian 'Colomba'

1y ago

Colomba (Italian for 'dove') is Italy's flagship Easter cake, basically the equivalent of Christmas' Panettone or Pandoro, and it is made with flour, eggs, dough, sugar, yeast and butter. Historically, the Colomba has always only included almonds and candied fruits but you know how it is, plus everybody hates candied fruits for some reason, which is why people go crazy with ingredients. This particular Colomba is made with pistachio and chocolate and I bought it from a local 'pasticceria' (pastry shop), they do home delivery. It's supposed to be shaped like a dove but, well, it kinda isn't. Tastes good, though. Happy Easter
