Eating at Five Guys

They make great Burgers & Shakes.

A few Years ago, in mid April 2015, I was walking around Times Square in Midtown Manhattan, searching for something to eat.

Back then, I ended up at a local Five Guys. I had heard they were good and wanted to give them a try.

I loved it back then.

Just last week, I then found out that there are actually a handful Five Guys Joints here in Germany with more going to be opened.

Lucky me, there actually was one along my Route back Home from School. I knew that I had to go there right away.

I wanted to know if my good Memories were some form of Nostalgia, and I really do love their Build-a-Bear style of making Burgers.

And so, after a journey full of delays and cancellations, I finally set foot into a Five Guys again. And it looked pretty much exa like I remembered it from New York City.

Five Guys system of Burgers is actually very simple: You order your Base Burger, in my Case it was a Bacon Cheeseburger, and then there are your Free Toppings.

Those Range from Sauces to Onions, Mushrooms and many more Things. Of Course I went All the Way, with the exception of Tomatoes. My Burger is on the bottom right on the Foto by the Way.

Those Toppings are then put onto the Buns while two Beef Patties are smashed, grilled, cheesed and then put to Rest right where they belong. All that is then wrapped up in aluminum foil and put into a brown paper bag, no Matter where you eat.

The Burger.

The Burger.

I have to say: That Burger was absolutely delicious. It had everything I want from a Burger, and it was so fresh I could practically hear the Pickles snap.

My only Beef with that beautiful Monstrosity was actually the Bacon: It was just a little bit too crispy for me. But that is nitpicking at the highest level.

Truth be told: I even loved that.

My Haul.

Obviously, I did not only order a Cheeseburger. That would have been dry and boring.

At FI’ve Guys, you can not only heavily customize your Burgers. The same is possible for Milk Shakes. And I knew exactly what to get, because Doug F challenged me to try it.

There are a whole lot of weird and awesome Shake Combinations you can try out, but I went for salted Caramel and Bacon Bits. It just had to be done.

A thick, frothy Milk Shake.

A thick, frothy Milk Shake.

Admittedly, I was pretty sure I would like that Shake before I even tried it. After all, it had one of my favourite Flavour Combos: Sweet & Salty. And yes, I know I am a little weird.

The Thing is: I did not like the Shake. I loved it! It was so thick, that Paper straw was standing on n it without any help. I still ditched it though. Paper straws are just nasty if you ask me.

I think I might have found my new favourite Milk Shake. Even though it will not bring everyone to the Yard.

The Love Wall.

The Love Wall.

I really loved it to be able to eat at a Five Guys again. Even though it was kinda pricey at around 15€ for a Burger and a Shake without any Fries, it was definitely worth it.

The Build-a-Bear experience by itself was great, do not get me wrong. But I enjoyed everything around it even more.

I am probably going to go there again next Frida. It is another School Week and I am going to take the same Train Home again.

My Order.

My Order.

Maybe someone even has a Tip for me. I want to order something different so that I do not get bored by the Experience.

I will probably stick with the very same Milk Shake though.

  • I am so glad you liked the burger, they are pricey but you get what you pay for. They have a large list of secret menu items you can find on Google.

Most of all I am happy you enjoyed the milkshake, they are soooo GOOD, regardless of what says about it. I am glad I did not steer you wrong. Thanks for the mentionas well!

    • You are welcome! Thanks for steering me in the right direction.

As for the price: At least it was actually filling.

    • Welcome, I try my best! They are very filling especially when you add a milkshake. I will caution you about the fries, they are very good but I normally get a small order of fries and share them with my wife and still have some left over.

    • Thanks! And I have to agree: 5 Guys is not really for the Vegan/ Vegetarian.

  • Enjoying sweet and salty is not weird at all. I usually get the little bacon cheeseburger so it is only one patty, then toppings depends on my mood. I usually get fries and skip the shake but I have done a coffee salted caramel shake.

    • Yeah. Was hungry so I did not go little. In fact almost went big. Too bad I really do not like Coffee, or I would try that Shake. It just does not agree with me.
