Fear not: stocks may be running low, but Heinz beans are going nowhere

Heinz assures us that no matter how tough times get, we can always count on their beans!

You'll have seen the photos of the empty shelves in supermarkets. People are panic buying like they have warehouses at home to fill and, with staff shortages due to illness, our favourite brands are struggling to keep up.

You can always rely on beans. They are good for any meal of the day. Eggs and sausage for breakfast? Add some beans! Toast and cheese for lunch – beans are a must. Fish fingers for dinner? Do not forget the beans! (we like a healthy adult diet in my house...)

So when you see empty shelves and people stacking their shopping trollies to the point they can barely push them, it's only natural to be concerned about the availability of your favourite legume.

Much to the relief of all of us, I'm sure, Heinz have issued assurances that you will not go without beans during these challenging times. As well as donning that beautiful orange cape and being our absolute heroes, they have issued a plea for some sense as you shop.

In all seriousness, we do not need to be buying tens of things to prepare. Doing so ensures that those who also need it, sometimes more so, miss out and they may rely on it. Be sensible, be kind.

Free breakfasts to those who need it

As the UK government announces that schools are to close, many school children will miss out on the breakfast they would normally get at school. To ensure that this is not the case, Heinz have gone one further and pledged 12 million free breakfasts to children who need it.

Beans means Heinz...!

  • The supermarket tannoy repeated "There are no shortages" as I gazed at the empty baked bean shelves. Here's the thing. If we can't buy it, it's a shortage. And I can't face curried beans for breakfast!
