Phoebe Waller-Bridge, creator and main star of the BBC hit show Fleabag, is launching her own brand of gin in partnership with Edinburgh Gin, named after (and dedicated to) the show. This is also a nod to the protagonist's fondness for G&T. In fact, sales of Marks and Spencer's G&T cans have gone up like mad (+24%!) after episode 2 of season 2 where Fleabag and 'hot priest' (Andrew Scott) connect and flirt over one or two (or ten) cans of G&T.

The bottle ain't cheap, coming in with an eye-watering £48 price tag, but you can rest safe in the knowledge that 100% of the proceeds from the sales will be used to help struggling artists for next year's Edinburgh Fringe. The gin is scheduled to hit the shelves on July 20, and Waller-Bridge is aiming to raise at least £150,000 to help the creative cause.

She said she came up with the idea because she wanted to unite her two great loves, gin and theatre. “We wanted this bottle to capture a glimpse of Edinburgh in all her mystery and wonder, through the eyes of Fleabag who found her first home there,” Waller-Bridge said. “I hope every purchase inspires outrageous and creative conversations". She also added that she specifically wanted Andrew 'hot priest' Scott to hand write a message on the bottle as an extra incentive for people who are fans of the show and the drink.

The bottle features the iconic dialogue from the final episode of the show when Waller-Bridge's character says, "I love you" and Andrew Scott's character replies, "It'll pass".

Production is limited but you can (and probably should) register for pre-sale access ahead of the official launch here.

Have you ever tried canned G&T? If so, how did you like it?
