'Fruit nerd' is here to help you find the juiciest mandarins
Did you know about this 'hack'?
Have you ever been to the shops and realised that when you got home and unpacked the shopping, your mandarins weren't as good as they could have been?
Or perhaps you are lucky enough to have your own mandarin tree in your garden, but can never find good ones. Well, we may have a solution for you.
Thanh Truong, a fruiterer based in Melbourne, Australia and avid Instagram user is here to give you some great tips and tricks on how to pick the best ones.
In a video posted on his Instagram, he said you should take two pieces of fruit and use your weaker arm to feel the weight of both. The heavier mandarin will be ‘juicier and less dry’ than the lighter one, as he claims 'not all mandarins are equal'.
He then says that once you’ve picked out the best ones, you should then store them in the fridge in order to allow them to last for longer. And if you're wondering how long they last, Thanh says, ‘they last about a week'.
This is apparently not as long as oranges and that’s because the skin is much thinner and it’s more permeable, so it will dehydrate much more if you keep it for any longer than a week.
