Gas station cuisine and a car show – aka what to eat when you forget your lunch

Ahhhhhh! Life is returning to normal, but gas station food is still questionable

It was a bitter-sweet experience; the 13th and last Mustangs at the Mountain Car Show, at Stone Mountain Park, near Atlanta, Georgia. Back in 2014, I bought my dream car brand new, a 2014 Mustang GT, and the Mustangs at the Mountain Car Show was my first ever car show just a month later. Due to logistical issues, the organizer of this event decided that 2020 was going to be the last year of the car show, but had to postpone it until this year due to COVID-19. Being this was my first car show that I've ever participated in back in 2014, I was going to be damned if I missed the last one in 2021!

I didn't plan very well, and the morning of the car show, I decided I need to bring a lunch with me - after I left the house! Some folks from my car club were meeting up so we could all drive in together, and that proved to be the perfect opportunity to grab some grub - from a gas station! I snagged a sandwich, a Monster Energy Drink (coffee flavored), and Lays Dill Pickle flavored chips. I'll break down how each of the items was and how they contributed to my overall happiness at the car show.

Java Monster Loca Moca

Mmmmmmmm! Coffee! Well, coffee flavored?

Mmmmmmmm! Coffee! Well, coffee flavored?

I love the Java Monster drinks! I got hooked on these awhile back while working 12 hour shifts at night; they were indispensable for those late night moments when I started to get tired. A couple of these and I'd have the perfect amount of the jitters to continue until dawn! I was glad I grabbed this on the way out to the car show as I needed some pick-me-up! It had the perfect coffee flavor and boost to kick me in gear.

Dandee Turkey Ranch Sandwich

KICK!

KICK!

I was really hoping the gas station would have a premade, egg salad sandwich in their refrigerator case, but all I could find was ham or turkey. The label on this turkey sandwich sounded appealing, so turkey it was. Well, this sandwich had neither ranch, nor did it have kick! It was pretty much bread with turkey and cheese. It was dry. It wasn't that awesome. But it was food! And I needed food.

Lays Dill Pickle Chips

One of my favorites!

One of my favorites!

I absolutely LOVE Lays Dill Pickle Chips! These things round out a quick lunch perfectly with their tangy, dill flavor. Lays Dill Pickle chips combines the flavors of a Salt & Vinegar chip with dill to make the best chip flavor EVER! Sooooooooooo damn good!

The Car

Ohhhhhhh! She's bad!

Ohhhhhhh! She's bad!

It was great getting my car out of hibernation for this event, my first car show in a LONG time. My Mustang features a 5.0 liter Coyote V8 motor with a ProCharger P-1SC-1 Stage II supercharger, an MGW Race Spec shifter paired to the otherwise stock 6-speed MT-82 manual transmission, Eibach Sportline lowering springs, BOSS 302 wheels, FRPP axle back exhaust, and some minor aero and appearance modifications. This bad ass girl puts down 582 RWHP and can be scary when too much throttle is applied! Damn, I love this car!

That ass!
