Excellent news today because James 'Bim' May has bought himself "half a pub". The pub in question is the Royal Oak in Swallowcliffe, Wiltshire and May took to his own Twitter account to make the announcement. In typical Captain Cryptic fashion, he literally tweeted "I've just bought half a pub".

As we all know, pubs in Britain have been struggling for quite a while. In fact, if I had a pound for every time I read the "save the pubs" headline in the newspapers, I would now be able to buy my own pub. The Royal Oak in Swallowcliffe (near Salisbury) has been shut since Covid-19 restrictions were implemented in March and it is potentially going to be reopened at some point in the next few weeks.

In 2012, local residents rejected a planning application to convert the building into a house and three years later, in 2015, the pub was purchased by a group of local investors, refurbished and brought back to life. And it looks like a nice place.

See you at The Royal Oak, I guess...?
