Great evening for a cheeseboard

Snow on the ground and a fire place lit, grab that cheese board and kick back. A while back I asked for your cheese suggestions to go along with my wild boar summer sausage. There was a few different suggestions but there is one that I could actually find in my store. Joshua Gregoire gave the suggestion of smoked Gouda and let me tell you what....it went perfectly with the summer sausage. The sausage actually had a fairly mild flavor and the smoke from the Gouda was a match made in heaven. This is my new favorite cheese! I also grabbed Stilton and a sharp white cheddar. Stilton packs a punch and was too much for the sausage but the sharp white cheddar was not too bad.

  • Thank you for a great, comfy picture and write up! It looks absolutely delicious, "everything-is-great-with-the-world" and reminds us of late October/early November 2014. My wife and I were of the way to France and got caught in deluge in Northern Italy. We had to stop in La Spezia because our new Mercedes developed a leak through back door and carpet was beginning to stink. After a day long adventures with a car rental company, exhausted, we manage find a stay with local farmer in what once was chestnut drying room at their farm. This is exactly what we had that night (plus bottle of local Red, of course). Thank you again from both of us for bringing back good memories!
