Greggs staff share £7m payout thanks to vegan sausage roll success
Greggs staff have started the New Year well, as a £7 million payout will be shared among them after an 'exceptional year'
The staff at Greggs will be loving the vegan sausage roll even more, as it's led to them sharing a £7m payout.
The bakery chain has experienced an 'exceptional year', with sales up 13.5% in 2019, compared to a 7% rise in 2018. Due to this, the company's pre-tax profit is expected to be much higher than originally forecast.
This success is said to be largely down to the launch of Greggs' 'Vegan Sausage Roll' in January 2018, resulting in soaring profits.
Greggs' chief executive Roger Whiteside said, "We delivered a strong finish to what has been an exceptional year for Greggs.
"The major investments we have made in recent years to make Greggs an attractive choice in the food-to-go market are delivering.
"I am delighted to announce that we will also be making a special additional payment to all of our colleagues across the business who have worked so hard to deliver the success in what has been a phenomenal year."
Veganuary isn't stopping there in Greggs, with the launch of the much anticipated vegan steak bake!
