Have the nation's most loved pasty, while you shop

Grocery shopping is about to become your favourite thing to do!

Does anyone enjoy grocery shopping? Don't answer that, I know nobody does! You're either starving so buy way too much or you're not that hungry so cant imagine what you could possibly want to eat in four days time. It's not fun.

Asda have cottoned on to this, along with the fact that, as a nation, we will do anything for a sausage roll. Armed with this wisdom, they have announced that they will be introducing Greggs to their stores!

You can now mope about for longer than you intended but do so happily because you have favourite pastry delight. You might even fancy treating yourself to a yum yum too, why not!

The chief strategy officer at Asda said "We are constantly looking for new ways to increase customer choice. By partnering with brands that fit with our core values of great quality and great value – like Greggs – we’re excited to be able to give our customers access to something new in store that we know they will love.”

Raymond Reynolds, from Greggs, added “We know that high quality food-on-the-go and convenience go hand in hand, and this trial gives us the opportunity to bring our range of products to more customers in new locations.”

So far, it's just a trial at some branches in England (Boldon, Corby, Huyton, Wigan and Eastland) but I would urge every visitor to fill their boots and make this work because a world with no Greggs at the supermarket is just not one we can go back to!

Is the opportunity to grab a Greggs something you are looking forward to?

  • Um, living in Cornwall, a Greggs free county (the Saltash store lasted a few weeks), I have to disagree.

And the photoshopping of the Greggs sign is just dire. You can skew an image to get the perspective correct.

    • It wasn’t meant to be perfect, so I’m very ok with that and given that you live in pasty country, I’m sure Greggs just know their market
