Have you ever tried Lambrusco wine?

Lambrusco is a red, slightly sparkling wine from Emilia-Romagna, a region in the Northeast of Italy, where it is considered as important as Ferrari and Lamborghini, also from Emilia-Romagna. It is very popular and also very cheap. The average price for a bottle of Lambrusco in most Italian supermarkets is €1.9-2.5. This bottle cost me €1.79. Have you ever tried it?

  • I tried some proper Lambrusco in Bologna last year. In the UK, the only 'Lambrusco' you can get is this absolutely horrendous super sweet cheap crap... Oh my god Alessandro it's AWFUL. I loved the real stuff though – although I didn't have anything that cheap... It was the good stuff! It was a strange experience drinking a dry, sparkling red though.

    • Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your point of view, geography is important when it comes to food and drink. And logistics, too. I'm assuming the UK Lambrusco is also a lot more expensive than the real one in Italy

    • Yehhh... it's still on the 'cheap' side of things for over here though. About £3 for the gross one. The good stuff is all £10-15 minimum!

  • Proper, dry Lambruscos are some of my favorite wines. The states don’t offer too many options at grocery chains, but wine specialty shops are catching on to Lambrusco di Sobra and some of the fun “refermentes”

    • Ignore the champagne on the right... the other two Lambruscos are excellent. The one on the far left was from 2005 and my god was it interesting with the extra bottle age.

    • I live in Spain, they have some really nices wines over here. I usually drink Verdejo white wine. Sancerre is I guess my favorite. But they don't serve it at many places, so i'd have to look for it myself. I have a friend who sells french wines in...

  • My mom used to drink this one, so I’ve had it before. It’s not bad
