A situation every vegetarian can identify with: Everyone eats meat and you are left with potatoes, vegetables and sauce. BUT NOT TODAY! This is a delicious and juicy schnitzel everyone will enjoy ^.^
Pack your bags and search for some delicious mushrooms - or just go to your local supermarket . Macrolepiota procera, parasol mushroom or Riesenschirmling like we call them in Germany is a great contender for your schnitzel. But! if you are unsure with mushrooms be careful what to use.
You got your mushrooms? Great. Here are the simple steps to your schnitzel. Enjoy :)
Write a short description of your recipe
Ingredients
- Macrolepiota procera or any eatable mushroom
- Egg
- Bread flour
- Salt and pepper
- Oil
Instructions
- Clean your mushroom(s) and remove the stalk
- Coat the mushroom with stirred egg, bread flour and add some salt and pepper
- Fry till your mushroom schnitzel gets a nice golden colour

Enjoy your mushroom schnitzel with some lemon, potatoes or fries and a sauce of your liking! And probably some veggies. :D

Yes! Riesenschirmling / parasol mushroom particularly recommended! Can be breaded as Georg described or even fried directly in butter. Both versions are excellent. And, if you can find it somewhere near you, it's even free 😊 I found some not far away from my hometown, close to the Dutch border, at a former British military area that has been abandoned and turned into a park by local authorities.
I haven't tried 🍄 that way and I am envious because it seems it easy to find really big mushrooms in Germany 🥺. Mushrooms are so delicious and some of them have a hearty texture 😍. Welcome to Food Tribe!
