My friend and I met for drinks on Boxing Day and at some point, one of my friends put this on the table and said "my grandmother made this". I've no literally no idea where he'd been hiding the bottle, because it is a sizeable bottle and he'd arrived carrying no bags whatsoever. But never mind that. It is a homemade "amaro" (bitter herbal liqueur), made with 13 different herbs: laurel, sage, mint, basil, rosemary, cloves, cinnamon, chamomile, thyme, anise, cilantro, dill and lemon leaves along with some lemon juice, which contribute to the yellow-ish/lime-ish colour. ABV should be around 14-16%. Have you ever tried amaro?

That sounds oh so good.
