How about some stout beer-infused whisky?

Do you like whisky? Do you like beer? Would you like to try whisky with beer? The answer to a question no one was asking comes from Ian Macleod distillers, who’ve just launched a new limited-edition drink under its Smokehead whisky brand, they call it the ‘Twisted Stout’.

They call it ‘stout’ but I’d call this stout-infused whisky because the 43%-ABV Islay single malt Scotch has been part-finished in stout casks which, according to the label, gave it “notes of rich chocolate and treacle toffee, vanilla ice cream, roasted nuts, and toasted biscuits.”

“We’ve clearly struck a chord with those who do things their way,“ said Smokehead Director Iain Weir. “Twisted Stout is as far away from a standard single malt as the combination of tastes, aromas and flavours inside the bottle.”

Smokehead Twisted Stout is available to buy exclusively from www.smokehead.com, at £49.99 per 70cl bottle.

  • This has to ruin whiskey, but gah I'd try it

    • What a waste of stout casks. You could use them to do good, you could store stout beer in them for example. Kidding, I actually like the idea. I’d try it

  • It does sound interesting, but I think Octomore has done it already?

  • Infused, like adding some whiskey to the stout. I prefer barrel aged stouts, not infused stouts.

  • What's the point here? I mean, whisky is distilled beer anyway. But yes, I'd try it.
