How do you like your eggs? Most like scrambled eggs, study reveals
In other news, the sky is blue
Sure as eggs is eggs, 1 in 2 Brits love scrambled eggs. A nationwide study, conducted by British Lion Eggs for British Egg Week, reveals some interesting data regarding eggs and how people consume them.
I’m assuming most people won’t be shocked to find out that 49% (out of 1,500 people interviewed) say they prefer scrambled eggs, but it is a bit surprising that soft-boiled egg came in second place, preceding both fried eggs and poached eggs.
Eight people in ten believe eggs are seeing an increase in popularity because they’re easy to cook, versatile and healthy, and there’s en evident generational gap between the Generation Z and Boomers, because people aged 18-26 (Gen Z) are three times more likely to eat eggs than people aged 55-75 (Boomers). And guess what? They also like to eat eggs with avocado. Duh.
According to the study, 68% of people aged 60 or older have never even tried avocado and eggs together, and 80% have never tried ‘Cloud Eggs’ (made with a yolk placed on a bed of whipped up whites).
On the other side of the equation, ‘Gen-Zers’ have apparently no idea what kedgeree is (42%), or devilled eggs (41%) and, you might wanna sit down for this, a whopping 55% believe that the Classic Full English Breakfast is outdated.
“Eggs are an eternal favourite,” said British Lion Eggs Chairman Andrew Joret. “[But] it is interesting to see how trends change across the generations.”
