How good does a cheeseburger made purely of cheese sound?

You can get your hands on one in Aldi right now

Aldi have just released a 'Grilling Cheese Quarter Pounder', and it's the best thing ever.

The Product

The Product

Forget beef, forget chicken, forget anything else, this is a 4oz circular block of Halloumi-like cheese. That's a whole lot of cheese (around 115g for the metric people out there).

For the vegetarians out there, this has got to be your go-to meat-free burger, although I'm sure there are a lot of carnivores out there who are just as keen.

I mean, you could get really wild and stick it on top of a beef patty for the ultimate double-stacked burger. With all the toppings of course. Maybe even some extra cheese.

Alternatively, why not use two of these in place of the bun? Perhaps good for those on a keto diet?

It won't be classed as a health food anytime soon, that I can guarantee. Each slice (burger? slab? hunk?) clocks in at 356 calories with 28g of fat – that's 40% of the UK's recommended intake.

    • Haha, I'm sure this would improve the Beyond burger you tried (although making it not vegan)

    • I don't think anything can help that nastiness. 😁

  • Grilled cheese is a popular snack in Brasil. I used to love it but I don't think it was 1/4 pound of grilled cheese. This Aldi experiment should taste good 😆.

  • Halloumi added to shopping list 😍 Also, has anyone tried Halloumi with honeycomb? My friend had some in a cheese platter once, it would be a great addition to this burger to up the fancy!
