How much do you want to try a 1,800-degree lava pizza at the foot of a volcano?

Pizza needs to be cooked with a hot fire, so wouldn't hotter than hot be better pizza?! At a minimum, it's more interesting!

Volcanos might seem like a portal into the netherworld, considering all the fire and brimstone, but you'd be wrong to think they're just pits of fiery hell. They're actually responsible for much of the life on earth and the continuation of it. They bring us new land, fresh mineral and elements, and even the gases introduced into the atmosphere helped create oceans and, in turn, life--including you. So if volcanos are actually good for the earth, it is only expected they bring us another of life's most precious creations, pizza.

Some evil-genius turned chef, named David Garcia, has decided to make pizza on a volcano. The life-giveth-and-taketh-away volcano is also giving us a properly hot oven to create, arguably, the most popular dish to ever come from a country also shaped like a boot. Any ordinary pizza oven cooks at around 700-800F, whereas the volcano cooks your Sicilian pie at 1800F.

Chef Garcia's pizza can be sampled at his eatery "Pizza Pacayá" at the foot of Guatemala's Pacayá volcano. This chef decided to try something new and make pizza at the volcano as it was due to erupt in early 2021 anyways--this gives new life to the saying, 'when life gives you lemons...' And erupt it has! This 8,373' (~2552m) has erupted many times since 1961 when after 70 years it roared back to life.

The Chef has to--obviously--take some extra precautions when cooking on the devil's furnace. He is required to don protective gear and boots and stay hydrated around the scorching temperatures. The volcano's gasses are noxious and breathing them in high quantities or for prolonged lengths of time can lead to an interesting epitaph on a tombstone.

So if you have to climb a mountain, pay a man to dress like an iron smelter, risk fiery doom and gloom... is it worth it? Apparently, it is. People flock to this gentleman's volcano pizzeria, by evidence of his Instagram.
