How much Vegemite is too much?

As Tom Hanks recovers from Coronavirus, Twitter users are a bit concerned about how much he loves Vegemite...

Tom Hanks is currently in insolation with his wife. Both have tested positive for Coronavirus and are recovering in hospital.

Hanks recently tweeted a photo of a couple of pieces of toast with Vegemite on, and people had a few things to say about it.

Most users commented that the amount of Vegemite he used was waaaay too much...

Others supported the amount he used, while some joked that the amount of Vegemite he used is more likely to make him sick than COVID-19.

When it comes to spreads on toast, I don't think there is a "right amount". Who cares what the internet thinks, it's your toast. Put as much or as little on as you like!

Also, surely no-one can tell the legendary Tom Hanks what to do, especially while he's sick with Coronavirus!

So, how much Vegemite or Marmite is just too much to put on your toast?

  • Burned toast, then butter, then coat the toast until you can't see any more bread. Enjoy.

  • All of it, there is just something not right about a Marmite substitute made by English convicts.

Still, feeding it to Americans will be a treat for them, they are not used to flavour.

  • Reminds me of my first encounter with Vegemite many years ago in New Zealand. The taste of it when applied on toast in that amount was, erm, quite intense 🤢

  • Depends on the Vegemite delivery method. A moderate amount on hot buttered toast, with a more heavy handed approach if your using Sao’s or Rivita’s to get that yummy, salty, Vegemitey goodness into ya!

  • I've had a chat with Coleman about this vegemite. He says it's like potent butter and Americans always put too much on their toast. Does that sound correct? I've never tasted the stuff before.

    • Not just Americans, I made the same mistake 😁 It's probably less a matter of nationality and more the matter of simply not knowing what you're dealing with 😊 I think the instruction above is quite correct.

    • I have the sneaky suspicion somebody is going to get me with this one sooner or later.
