Instructions
Chicken thighs 🐔
- Defrost chicken thighs, put them in a separate pot (to keep clean and safe)
- Add 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of pepper, 2 tablespoons of cooking wine, 10~15 slices of ginger, mix them well
- Leave it for at least 1 hour
Honey chai siu sauce 🍯
- Add 3/4 tablespoon of tomato ketchup, 1 tablespoon of cooking wine, 1~2 tablespoons of honey, 1~2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 teaspoons of dark soy sauce and 2 tablespoons of warm water into a bowl
- Mix them up
Start cooking! 🥳
- Heat the pot, add some oil, then add slices of garlic
- Remove the garlic after releasing its unique flavour, then turn into medium fire, add chicken thighs and fry
- Remove chicken thighs after they become golden, then roast them using an oven at 475 degrees Fahrenheit (about 200 degrees Celsius) for 10~15 minutminutes
- Heat the pot, add some oil (or use the oil left in the pot), then add slices of ginger
- Add thighs, then add the sauce prepared earlier, turn into small fire, cook for about 10 minutes
The final touch 😜
- Almost done!
- Cut the chicken into strips, then put the strips on the rice
- Add the sauce left in the pot, then you can decorate with sesame, broccoli and carrot (I don't like carrot so, no decoration)
- All done!

Thanks for sharing, Ian. Honey chicken is arguably everyone's favourite Chinese dish.
Sounds delicious! Going to have to see if I'm missing anything!
Brilliant instructions with images. I need to change the way we show images on mobile devices...
Thank you for sharing! I am going to try this to see if it fits in my "chicken/pork in sauce, over rice" dishes. I'm not that sophisticated haha!
