We've all been there. We want to eat more vegetables. We had all the good intentions. We purchased a lettuce with the idea that we would make ourselves a healthy salad and we put it in the fridge. Two days later, the salad looks like a wet rag and we now have an excuse to order in a juicy burger. Don't get me wrong - I'm all for ordering in every so often, but I also like to eat something green when it looks good and when I can prepare something exciting with it.
And if, like me, you throw out food each week because it went bad, maybe you want to try these...
Putting your produce in these bags will extend its life expectancy in the fridge by a long shot! The good news for the planet is that they are reusable, simply rinse and dry them between uses. The packaging says they are good for 20 uses but I can tell you from someone I know that as long as you take care of them they can last years. Since I started using these I have very rarely lost produce to time. The important thing is to make sure your produce is dry when you place it in the bag.
These bags have been around for a long time. Many companies produce them so you can search for "Green bag for vegetables" on Amazon and you will find some probably in every country. They come in a variety of sizes for storing anything from a lime to a giant head of lettuce.
Let me know if you knew about this all along and I've just been living in the Middle Ages all this time, or let me know if you try them!

It is a good idea. I will check those. By the way, I thought the picture was related with the banana art installation 😅
Me too 😆
😆
I may have to check into those. I try to shop once a week and sometimes veg goes bad before I use it. Thanks for the tip 👍
I'll confess, the first time I was home alone, I discovered how fast lettuce wilts. And yes, cue the juicy burger.
Is this the hack your wilting lettuce needs? @tribe
I have tried those type of bags the secret is getting the produce especially lettuce dry. Here in Arizona the stores spray peoduce with water every 15 minutes or so, and it is soaked by the time you pick it up. Any ideas??
I buy my veggies from a farm directly so they are not wet. Perhaps let it dry a bit when you get home.
So lucky, I used to go to ghe Farmers market sometimes but these days it is too cramped.
