Hungarian mizeria #sidesmatter
Another entry for Jane Fyffe's #sidesmatter challenge
After posting the Polish mizeria a couple days ago our friend Emilia was telling me about the Hungarian version of mizeria. It is basically the same as the Polish version with some added ingredients, such as onion, bell peppers, paprika and garlic. After talking about it and knowing that everything I have tried from Emilia has tasted great, I just had to give this a day in court as well.
Cucumber salad
Ingredients
- 1 English cucumber
- 1/2 cup of sour cream
- 1 Tbsp of vinegar
- 2 Tbsp of dill
- 2 Tbsp of chives
- 1Tsp of sugar
- 1 bell pepper
- 1 onion
- Paprika to taste
- 3 garlic cloves
- Salt
Instructions
- Slice cucumber, pepper and onions thinly and place on paper towels and sprinkle with salt.
- Dry cucumbers, peppers and onion thoroughly and put them in a mixing bowl.
- Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
- Add salt to taste.
- Allow mizeria to chill in the fridge

This recipe makes enough for 2 people
FoodTribe there is not a huge difference here just a few extra ingredients but it makes a world of difference. Adding these few extra items has made this my favorite version of mizeria. This batch ended up a little runnier than it should be but that was my fault, I added a little to much sour cream and I did not get the peppers as dry as I should have. I really want to thank my friend Emilia for recommending me to try this version. I hope you all give it a try and let us know what you think.

Looks lovely. I think I would like a bit of fresh red chilli in too, but I do like a bit of spice 😋
That would work very well! Honestly it works very well as a cooling and refreshing side for spicy food
Looks wonderful! Glad you enjoyed that version as well 🤩
Thanks, Yes I did! Honestly this is my preferred version.
Glad to hear that! 😁 If it wasn't good I wouldn't recommend that
Omg that sounds amazing!
