I drank a 33yo wine and I loved it!
The requested video of me tasting the 33yo wine from a very dirty bottle
Hi FoodTribe, a few weeks ago I posted some photos of some bottles of wine that I received as a gift from a 70yo man who was cleaning up his 300 bottle collection. One bottle was 33yo old and completely caked in dust, dirt and mold.
The bottle of wine
I asked everyone on FoodTribe what I should do with it and on a poll of "should I drink it in front of the camera" it was clear that some people liked too see me try it, or would love too see me vomit on the camera. 73% of all the participants said "YES".
The overall score
So last night I teamed up with @Doug F & @Jane Fyffe on Discord with a video call. I was great fun as always and after some fooling around we got to the point of the "dirty bottle". I recorded the session of me opening it and drinking it.
The bottle was still covered in dirt, dust and mold. Too make it worse I had some trouble of getting grip on the cork because it was completely disintegrating. But after some time it got out and the cork was really disgusting.
Now the bottle was open I had too drink it, because with the fresh oxygen the wine could turn bad very quickly and so I took a deep breath and started drinking.
Ow and............ I LIKED IT A LOT!!!
The wine was a dry wine but because of it's age it was a bit more sweet and it tasted always like honey. The wine was also a bit thicker than I was used too. Unfortunately one hour after the bottle opened the wine turned quickly bad and within 2 hours it was not drinkable anymore. Still it was a great experience and I hope that I will receive another old bottle of wine one day so I could try that as well.
In the end the evening was a success, even when I tried a "simple solution" on the wine bottle to filter the wine while pouring it in my glass. I put a teabag over the bottle and try pouring it but it failed and the result was that my keyboard was completely messed up. But me being an engineer was able too fix it within 3 hours (yeahhh!!!).
My solution (DON'T TRY IT NEAR A KEYBOARD)
