I made a chicken tikka masala and it was ace
Maybe I was wrong. Maybe you can make something a bit like Indian food.
This was made with the 'chicken cheater masala' recipe from my forthcoming cookbook (plug). It's a cheat because the tikka process uses a conventional grill rather than a true tandoor, but the marinades are bob-on and made from scratch.
I deviated from my own recipe slightly because I didn't have enough yoghurt for the main sauce. I added a bit of goats' milk, but I think that might have cooked out, so the sauce is slightly thick. Very good flavour, though. I was so excited by the way this turned out that I forgot to eat the papad first, so I'll have those for lunch today, with a cheese 'n' pickle sarnie.
The thing to the left was made up in the artistry of the moment, with okra, a large chilli, and a few left over tomatoes from our Italian evening. I added some council curry powder and a bit of oil. It worked. Everything worked, in fact, and the missus said 'You can make that again if you want,' and she's never said that before.
The other bowl contains rice.

Looking good James.. We may make an Indian out of you soon.
I feel that James May is slowly becoming James May Kumar! 🤔😂
Haha yeah
I can’t find a plated up photo but I love my partners homemade curry, the one in the wok is chicken and the saucepan one is vegetarian.
Looks good
James may is just so cool ,love the way he is serious but at the same time sarcastic and explains things in a simple way. Two people I really enjoy watching and would love to have a beer with is Jeremy Clarkson and James may, tv legends 👍
Funny you mentioned the cheese n pickle sarnie. I’ve just finished rewatching the Sarnies of the Seventies cheese sandwich video. I must be channeling Bim! Chicken Tikka looks good.
