I Made... Doughnuts – it's easier than you might think
Why not try and make some? Let me show you how I made mine...
Let us go back to the olden days!
There is a bakery in downtown Shiraz, which has modern kinds of bread, mainly French like Baguettes. When I was a child, one time we went there, and while my mom was choosing bread, I was looking at the vitrine and saw a ring-shaped thing with chocolate on top! It didn't have any fancy designs like sprinkles and such. It only had a plain chocolate glaze which was enough to steal my heart!
It's hard not to love them; don't you think?
For many years that simple confectionary, Pirashki (as we call it) was on my list whenever I had the chance to visit that bakery!
It is shiny!
A few years later, I saw Pirashki with a new foreign name, doughnuts, in the supermarkets! I am not sure whether there is a difference between doughnuts and Pirashki.
The only thing I know is that I loved them as a kid when they were hard to find, or later when it changed its name to doughnut and was available everywhere – or now that I can make them at home! Yes! I did and I'm going to from now on!
With chocolate chips and chocolate glaze for the chocoholics!
When I read the recipe, it sounded a bit difficult. But determined to try, I set about making them anyway!
Making doughnuts from scratch may seem like an intimidating act. But when I tried, I found out it is relatively easy! Well, It's easier than a lot of things I've tried so far!
First I made the dough. The result was a very soft dough that I just wanted to keep playing with it! It was extremely therapeutic, and I highly recommend everyone to do this at least one time! Trust me; you won't regret it!
After kneading, I put the dough aside to rest. Though I have made a dough once, I have never worked with yeast, so when I came back after 2 hours, It was so satisfying to see it had risen.
Then I cut them into the famous doughnut shape. Because I didn't have a cutter, I used a glass and a piping nozzle. The dough was so fluffy that made this process quite fun!
While they were resting again for about 15 minutes, I prepared the decoration by making some chocolate ganache and using a store-bought banana glaze, some chocolate chips, sprinkles and coconut powder for the topping.
Now it was frying time! The oil must be as hot that the second you put the dough in, it starts to fry! Seeing them frying and enlarging at the same time, was extremely exciting!
Finally, They were ready! I just added the decoration and it was time to eat!
They were so fluffy, crispy and yummy that they were all gone in a blink of an eye!
So as you see, it is simple to make doughnuts. They are versatile and yummy in any form or flavour, and it does not need too many ingredients.
So why not try and make some?!

My 'I Made' series...
I also want to talk about the "I made" series. I am a newbie in cooking/baking world, and everything is new to me. So I thought it might be interesting to capture my first attempt at basically making anything; by telling how it went and my experiences through the whole process.
So what do you think about this series?
