When I first went vegan, the main thing I was worried about was missing cheese. Being vegetarian for 10 years previous to turning vegan, cheese was one of the main dairy products I ate. I wasn't fussed about milk, and of course ate processed foods which contained milk products.

My eyes were opened when I joined the many wonderful vegan foodies on Instagram, and I was quickly inspired by a wonderful bubbly woman from Yorkshire.

She made vegan cheese look easy to make and delicious – I have to say she didn't disappoint me!

I then went on to adapting the recipes to suite my taste buds, and this is where this beautiful cheese board comes from. I made a spinach ricotta, chilli cheddar style and a black pepper cheese, served with homemade crackers and tomato chilli chutney.

  • Those look great I don't want to go Vegan but the dishes make a nice change. My worry is how non dairy cheese melts I have had some very iffy sauces.

    • Non dairy cheeses can be a challenge i have to admit, and i agree it’s a bit mad how they melt. Sometimes they contain agar agar powder which is like gelatine will remelt when heated and a lot of branded vegan cheeses contain coconut oils with...
