Ikea is throwing a massive Christmas buffet
And you are all invited
Be honest, you go to Ikea for the food, don't you?
Nobody needs to buy flat-packed furniture as frequently as they visit Ikea. It's a place to go when you are bored, because it's basically a very good day out. And, you will almost certainly end up in the cafe.
This Christmas, Ikea is inviting you to an all-you-can-eat buffet at your local store, to celebrate the annual tradition of Santa Lucia.
Santa Lucia, or Saint Lucy in English, is celebrated on 13 December, which used to coincide with the longest day of the year. The night of 13 December was thought to be the time when evil dark spirits liked to roam. Lucia was said to have worn a crown of candles and marched the streets with a procession of followers, all carrying candles to rid them of the darkness and fend off dark spirits.
And that's exactly what you can expect at the celebration, although it's less about fending off evil, and more just a joyous occasion. Made even more jolly by the spread!
There will traditional goodies like saffron buns and ginger biscuits, and no festive celebration would be complete without mulled wine.
But if you're just in it for the meatballs and the Dime cheesecake, rumour has it those will be available too!
